In today's global market, exporting products requires adherence to various certifications and standards. One such crucial certification is the CE certification, which ensures that products meet the necessary safety, health, and environmental requirements within the European Economic Area (EEA). In this article, we will explore the significance of CE certification and its relation to EMC testing and electromagnetic interference (EMI) standards. As a leading manufacturer and technology consulting company specializing in EC brushless motors, fans, and intelligent ventilation solutions, PBM is committed to providing high-quality products that comply with CE regulations.

Understanding CE Certification

CE certification is a mandatory requirement for products sold within the EEA. It signifies that the product meets the essential health, safety, and environmental protection standards set by the European Union (EU). By obtaining CE certification, manufacturers demonstrate their commitment to delivering safe and reliable products to consumers.
PBM offers a range of 9 major product series, including diagonal axial, backward and forward curved centrifugal, radial, single inlet and dual inlet blowers, tangential, and cross flow fans. All our products have been certified with CE and ROHS, and some have also obtained UL certification. These certifications ensure that our products meet the highest standards of safety and quality, making them easily recyclable and reducing resource waste through recycling, reuse, and remanufacturing processes.

At PBM, we strive for compact brushless permanent magnet synchronous external rotor motors to drive various types and sizes of impellers. Our efficient and reliable supply chain supports our manufacturing and quality management teams in delivering stable products within competitive lead times as promised.

PBM's energy-saving fans are sold to over fifty countries and regions worldwide, contributing to improved environmental quality and resource conservation.

Importance of EMC Testing

EMC testing, also known as Electromagnetic Compatibility, refers to the comprehensive assessment of electronic products in terms of both Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS). The purpose of this testing is to evaluate the ability of various electrical devices (including living organisms in a broad sense) to coexist within their own electromagnetic environment, ensuring their proper functioning without causing intolerable electromagnetic interference to other devices in the same environment. It is one of the most critical indicators of product quality. As fans are mechanical products, Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing plays a vital role in the CE certification process. It ensures that electronic devices, such as our EC fans, comply with electromagnetic emission and immunity standards. EMC testing evaluates the product's ability to function properly without causing or being affected by electromagnetic interference.

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

EMI refers to the disturbance caused by electromagnetic radiation emitted from electronic devices. Compliance with EMI standards is crucial to ensure that our products do not interfere with other electrical equipment or compromise their performance. The main testing items for EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) include RE (Radiated Emissions), CE (Conducted Emissions), Harmonic, and Flicker.

Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS)

EMS, also known as Electromagnetic Susceptibility, refers to the ability of electronic devices or systems to operate normally in environments where electromagnetic interference is present. EMS measures the resistance of a device or system to external electromagnetic interference, and higher EMS indicates better immunity to interference. The principle behind EMS involves the implementation of appropriate electromagnetic shielding measures to reduce the sensitivity to external electromagnetic interference. This includes the use of electromagnetic shielding materials, optimizing circuit layout, grounding planning, and grounding design to minimize the impact of electromagnetic interference.

The main testing items for EMS include ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), EFT (Electrical Fast Transient), DIP (Voltage Dip), CS (Conducted Susceptibility), RS (Radiated Susceptibility), Surge (Lightning Surge), and PMS (Power Magnetic Susceptibility).

Compliance with EMC Standards

To achieve CE certification, PBM products undergo rigorous testing based on relevant EMC standards. Some of the key standards include:

Radiated immunity for general equipment used in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments; EN IEC 61000-6-3:2021.

Power frequency harmonics; EN IEC 61000-3-2:2019+A1:2021.

Power frequency flicker; EN 61000-3-3:2013+A1:2019.

Radiated immunity for general equipment used in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments; EN IEC 61000-6-1:2019.

Electrostatic discharge; EN 61000-4-2:2009.

Radiated radio frequency electromagnetic field immunity; EN 61000-4-3:2020.

Electrical fast transient/burst; EN 61000-4-4:2012.

Surge immunity; EN 61000-4-5:2014+A1:2017.

Conducted radio frequency immunity (Laboratory testing); EN 61000-4-6:2014/AC:2015.

Power frequency magnetic field immunity; EN 61000-4-8:2010.

Voltage dips, interruptions, and voltage variations immunity for general equipment; EN IEC 61000-4-11:2020.
